Andy Reisinger is currently the Deputy Director (International) of the New Zealand Agricultural Greenhouse Gas Research Centre. In this role, Andy focuses on promoting international collaboration and capacity building towards the development and adoption of mitigation options for agricultural greenhouse gas emissions, particularly through the Livestock Research Group of the Global Research Alliance. Andy is also a coordinating lead author for the 5th Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and a member of the Core Writing Team for the Synthesis Report of the IPCC, which will conclude the current IPCC assessment round in October 2014. Andy's personal research interests include climate change impacts and adaptation with a focus on local government, exploring uncertainty and its implications for decision-making, and the role of agriculture in domestic and international climate change policy and its representation in integrated assessment models. He also conducts research into alternative metrics to compare non-CO2 and CO2 emissions within climate policy frameworks (such as Global Warming Potentials) and their social and economic implications. Andy obtained his PhD in atmospheric physics from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. His previous roles include: - Senior Research Fellow at the Climate Change Research Institute at Victoria University of Wellington - Head of the Technical Support Unit for the Synthesis Report of the 4th Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) - Senior Advisor on climate change for the Ministry for the Environment.
