Failure to adequately think about and prepare for inevitable extreme flood events places communities and their residents at great risk to long-term catastrophic consequences. Developing community resilience to such events creates a "no regrets" scenario where actions taken to develop flood risk management portfolios not only prepare communities to bounce back from the impact of natural hazards but also to deal with other challenges that might face them.
