Mark Baker-Jones is a prominent climate change lawyer and advises both private and public-sector clients on mechanisms to recognize and manage climate related legal risk. Mark has advised governments at all levels and was the inaugural chair of the Queensland Government Climate Adaptation Strategy partnership. He also initiated, and was central to, the development of a Queensland Sector Adaptation Plan for the built environment and infrastructure sector, and currently sits on the Queensland Climate Advisory Council. The Council provides the Queensland Government, including the Premier, with expert advice on opportunities and directions to maximise the economic and social potential of the Government’s transition to a climate resilient economy. Until recently, Mark was a partner in a national Australian law firm but he has recently relocated to New Zealand to take up a climate change and government relations role there.
